In the news right now is the invasion of the Ukraine by the Soviet Union. I can’t help but be reminded of the Soviet supported Serbian aggression toward Bosnia in the 1990’s. During the four year siege of Sarajevo, hundreds of mortars were fired daily on the city targeting civilian assemblies. The craters left from the damage are now filled with red resin and act as constant reminders of the horror and tragedy of war. They are called Sarajevo roses. To me there is no gray area here, it is black and white – good vs evil – when such disregard for others’ sovereignty and freedom are allowed. When will humankind learn kindness toward its weaker or downtrodden members?
