With a Shoe on the Head / Drawing 9
About this artwork
A recurring theme in Zaplaflora's drawings in this collection, "With a Shoe on The Head," is the characterization of a dogmatic character, lacking initiative and productive ideas. In this drawing, the play with numbers is striking; this time, 4 and 17 are the most noticeable, but there are many tiny numbers repeated in each column stemming from the 4 and 17. The entire character is worked down to the smallest detail, from the composition of the face, the collar adorned with pulleys, the military-style uniform he wears, and the shoe itself, from which two extensions emanate that could well be the character's braided hair. Once again, Zaplaflora returns to the presence of his inseparable vegetation in this drawing, but this time he does so more explicitly, with eight plants and their respective roots.
