My artwork, Corpus, represents one stage in the search for God that attempts to explore the layers of the world of matter, not visible to the naked eye but physically real, to make visible the core, the all-powerful force, the energy, the light — that which is the same in everything that functions. This is, perhaps, God himself.
Corpus means "body." Although the figure refers to Jesus Christ and his destiny, the features of Jesus are deliberately not seen, but simply those of an average man.
In his posture, there is the symbolism of the cross — a symbol of paramount importance in many religions and cultures around the world. It is the intersection of heaven and earth, the center that must be sought within ourselves and in others. There within lives the miracle that allows everything to function — our body, the core of our planet, the universe.
