Video Exhibition

Photography has been my creative pursuit for most of my life, long before it became digital. In photography, I am inspired by different art forms, including painting, sculpture, fiction, and poetry.

I investigate different ideas and directions, including photo impressionism and photo abstractionism, as well as observation of life, people, and nature. In my exhibition, I present some works from all of these areas. However, most of the work related to my primary interest in photography is photo impressionism and photo abstractionism, where photography becomes closer to painting. It is especially interesting for me to participate in group exhibitions at the People and Paintings Gallery, where I can see my photographs exhibited alongside paintings.

In my impressionism works (Night Street in Rain, Rainbow, Night Rain and Street Light, Blizzard, Hope) I try to capture a sense of impression or momentary effect. I am interested in the magic and mystery found in these events.

Abstract images from the series Emotions (Imagination, Creativity, Inner Balance, Tragedy, Passion, Harmony, Muddle, Fear) give our minds more opportunities to go directly to human emotions and a sense of wonder. This creative process is full of mystery and very subjective. My emotional association with my images, as reflected in the titles, could be very different from that of my viewers. This results in various responses from a broader audience.

Usually, in photography, emotions are expressed through human faces. It is challenging to express human emotions by means of abstraction. For this, I use special techniques, such as photographing reflections from water surfaces disturbed by wind and currents, selecting interesting parts of the images, and post-processing in Photoshop. This experimental approach results in photographs that resemble paintings.

 I use the Sony RX10IV with a 25X zoom camera, which is top-of-the-line for bridge cameras, and Photoshop Elements 2020.

I am a member of the Princeton Photography Club.
