Forks In The Road. Curator's Note.

Dear Artists,

I am truly humbled and grateful for this opportunity to view your work and to collaborate with People & Paintings Gallery, which I have long admired. The concept of this exhibition came to me as I reflected on the past year and is, therefore, personal to me. During the past 12 months I have found myself moving 7 times to a new home. Each of these moments was my own fork in the road and a moment of difficult decision making. I share this insight with you because I wish to stress that this, like all juried exhibitions, has a unique personal element. In fact, this is what sets juried exhibitions apart from the rest - this peculiar element that cannot be anticipated.

As I viewed the many excellent submissions to this exhibition I was struck by not only the quality of the work but also the journey that each artist took me on. Through this process, I was particularly moved by the statements that many of you provided which gave me a deeper understanding of your work and conceptualization. Sharing your artwork, especially for review, is a bold and brave task and I wish to thank you all for taking this leap.

I sincerely hope to have the chance to view more work from all of you and encourage you to keep creating and reflecting on your process. Stay the course, continue to hold your studio practice, make space for your creative growth, and continue to share your work with the world.

With gratitude,

Mila Pinigin
