Blue is considered the color of loyalty, but also of mysterious things, of mystification and uncertainty, but most of the times blue is associated with infinity.
Sue propose a simple subject for this painting, but let's be realistic, quite difficult to paint. What we have here is just the sea, with its waves, the horizon, and the sky. And certainly the breeze or even a strong wind generated by this wave.
The distant horizon is a little dark and seems uncertain and restless. So are the agitated waves - a lot of restlessness and agitation there.
Many shades of refreshing blue (mixed with green, white and grey) in these big, swirling waves, which can represent a danger for those in its path or a great opportunity for those willing to take risks and climb. For surfing (as the title suggests), it is definitely the second option. But danger is not excluded. And yet, some are waiting for waves like these...
