About this artwork

Number 4 has many mystic meanings associated to it. It represents the Earth and its four cardinal points, for instance. But in this artwork I have been deeply inspired by those four elements that coexist in the life of man in apparent dichotomy: body and soul, spirit and mind. The permanent search for balance between these components is appreciated by man as one of his great challenges in life. My work, of great positivism, is the image of happiness achieved thanks to the balance between these four essential components in human nature. The protagonist in this artwork is the psychological and emotional balance achieved by man when those four components arranged in interactive dichotomies in the human being interact harmoniously. This balance monopolizes the center of the canvas, and it is idyllically represented by a bright bouquet of flowers that give off that light that comes out from man´s eyes when he enjoys a state of happiness and success in life, that very status that moves man to struggle hard all his life to achieve it. Body, soul, spirit and mind take the form in this artwork, of four faces that manage to dialogue with each other and contribute with their potent breath to give birth to that so much desired balance. Profuse in details and multiple classic symbols, where each stroke of the brush has an important role to play, in those four faces beautiful contrasts of colors and dissimilar shapes in movement are appreciated, all this representing the intrinsic complexity of the interaction of body and soul, spirit and mind, when searching for that longed for balance that might lead us to earthly happiness and success in life.
