“Hurry down, sundown, get thee be gone, Get lost in the sunrise, of a new dawn. Hurry down, sundown, take the old day, Wrap it in new dreams, send it my way! Send it my way! Send it my way!” …Peter, Paul, and Mary “Sundown” is a painting from a photo taken on the shores of a summer camp in South Puget Sound. Most summer evenings, young voices singing Hurry Sundown are accompanied by guitars, small waves lapping on the beach, and the vivid colors of the setting sun falling behind the Olympic Mountains. The Sundown ritual began in 1970 and continues today, fifty-plus years later! Sunsets have a way of bringing about moments of quiet reflection and spontaneous expressions of gratitude and awe for those who pause to witness their mystery and magic.
