Tomorrow

Tomorrow perches on a bed of its former self, anticipating the excitement that is its future holds. Tomorrow was first in my line of egg sculptures which are steeped in questions and celebrations of who we are, who we were and who we have the potential to become. By design, Tomorrow can be displayed in many different configurations. Vertical on a horizon of shards, horizontal on an island nest of shards, vertical on a swirling eddy of shards... or any combination you can imagine! As with many of my works, Tomorrow was created from discarded stone. The rectangular block of black marble lived at the Creative Arts Center of Dallas, where I teach, for several years before it spoke, and beckoned me to just start carving and it would reveal itself to me in the process. NOTE: It is so easy to fall off the path of self discovery in today's world of instant distractions. All egg sculptures are precariously balanced as part of this story.
