About this artwork
In June 2022, I lost some of the sight in one eye because of a medical condition. In October, the same condition affected my other eye. I will never regain that sight in either eye but it hasn’t worsened. To me now, seeing the blurred shapes and softer colours around me is my norm. To be able to see the beauty of a single iris is a richness I thought I might lose. The beauty of ordinary things is everywhere when you no longer take for granted the gift of sight.
