About this artwork

We live in a world of imperfections: humans are imperfect; the socio-political systems that govern nations are imperfect; the climates that prevail in different geographical regions are imperfect; the survival relationships between the various species of plants and animals are imperfect; and, strictly speaking, man's creations are imperfect in the most diverse fields. These are just a few of the imperfections with which we live every day. But poetry survives any imperfection, and the imperfections of the world and nature continue to inspire the most exquisite works in various artistic expressions; because art transcends imperfection, as it is the result of the artist´s perception of reality in his inner world. My painting, "Ode to Artistic Imperfection," depicts three faces devoid of symmetry, harmony, balance between light and shadow, or beauty. It is irrefutable proof that humankind continues to find in the prevailing imperfection of this world ample source of poetic and artistic inspiration; it is the expression of how I understand and interpret reality. As expressed by Curator Comina M. Oltean, in her presentation of this Exhibition, "Beauty, then, is no longer an external ideal but an inner experience — the result of an intimate relation between the artwork and the one who beholds it, between intention and perception”.
