About this artwork

Native Americans (and other peoples) honor the idea that humanity embodies all the elements Mother Earth expresses through the multitude of animals which occupy her world. For instance, we human beings carry within our genetics the same powers and abilities which her animal inhabitants possess. Like the eagle, our minds carry the ability to see the world through far-reaching vision as well as telescoping to a closeup view of that same scenario. Like a horse, many of us possess the same steadfast stamina to keep galloping towards a goal, and, like the colorful hummingbird, we humans constantly reach for the sweet nectar hidden deep within our planet’s essence. People from all over the world even build totems at the entrances to their villages to honor the very same animals which possess the qualities they strive for. Finally, they honor the mystical powers of the moon, whose different phases symbolize the different influences it exerts over our planet. Just for fun, I added my favorite baby Yoda (Grogu) from the Star Wars movies. His innocence, combined with his inherent wisdom, symbolizes his ability to discover newfound wonders that exist in our world.
