When I was visiting my parents in Japan, we went for a walk together. It was a sunny autumn afternoon, the day after a very heavy rainy day in November. When my mother saw lots of Japanese Maple leaves fallen on the water of the ground, she said admirably, “How beautiful these red fallen leaves on a puddle are! I would make a painting of this stunning red leaves (if I were an artist)!”. I was touched by her pure-mind like a little girl who cherishes an impressive color and image from nature. At that moment, I decided to make THE painting she was talking about. My sweet memory of one sunny day in November.

After the Exhibition. Curator’s Note:
Congratulations to all artists who submitted to apply for your artworks. Since there were so many good works I received, it was hard to select only 20 artworks. Trust me, the one who didn’t get to this show, it was not because your work was under 20 selected works. For my themed exhibitions, I always prioritize which artwork meets the theme and has the meanings of the theme. Sometimes, even the technique or skills are not matured yet, I include the ones which move my heart. In this show, there are some wonderful artworks with great quality. And there are others which makes my heart so warm and excited by its storytelling, colors, brushstrokes, interesting forms, and/or motifs. I believe, it’s a huge joy when an artwork gives viewers heart-pounding.
Let’s keep on creating to express yourself. See you in my next show in 2025! Happy Sweet November!
