Eyes: a passage to the inner world

Some people say that human eyes are an open door to the soul or “the windows to the soul”. Well, eyes are a beautiful “instrument“ which defines the human face, with a specific shape, not very simple, but not very complicated to draw, if the artist understand the geometrical shapes and the anatomy. 

 Eyes are maybe the most important feature of any portrait, in pictures, paintings, drawings, art in general and of course in a face to face connection. 

All the light provided by the world is captured by eyes and everything around us is somehow rendered by them in colors and information sent to the brain. 

In Bible says “your eye is the lamp of your body. When your eyes are healthy, your whole body also is full of light. But when they are unhealthy, your body also is full of darkness.”

 Our world is governed by light and darkness and “eyes“ with “ears“ are the “instruments“ that helps us to see and hear, but in the way we choose; the light within will reflect through eyes the soul of a person, because every detail that was captured by them will build in time what we are, let’s call it our personality, our image, our authenticity. Eyes can reveal the light and clarity, to madness and tragedy. 

 This art exhibition is open to everyone and every art technique from drawing, painting to photography and more personal innovative medium. The central focus must be on eye shape, the look, the emotional touch, represented in a portrait or a composition. Every idea is welcome from a realistic approach to an abstract concept. We can communicate with our body language, but eyes are always the wow element that can describe the most powerful emotion.

Curator's Note:
I would like to thank all the participants and great artists who submitted for the art exhibition “Eyes: a passage for the inner world”. It was a pleasure to see and analyze every single piece and also to discover a touch of every personality in there.

I liked to see the approach of a wide variety of art techniques from drawing with ink or charcoal, to painting with watercolor, oil, or acrylic, to even pastels or photography. 

Every concept was unique from a realistic to a more abstract representation and “eyes” as the main focus made me feel different emotions with each artwork analyzed. 

A hard decision came to me to find the winner in the end, since I kind of developed o connection with some pieces. 

I made the decision according to my inner instinct and I have decided the winner Krisztina Lőrincz with her artwork painted on canvas “Innocent”. The technique of this one is really interesting and I enjoyed the lights and shadows, the colors applied, the types of brushes used and the portrait of the child lost somehow in all those colorful shapes.
